The purchase of additional Nintendo Wii Remote controllers are the basic requirement for multi-player games. Strongly consider buying a pair of high-capacity NiMH rechargeable AA batteries along with each additional controller. The Nintendo Wii Remote consumes a lot of power because of the many functions it performs -- the Wii Remote serves as a motion controller, provides power to controller attachments, and generates sound and vibration effects. The included set of disposable alkaline batteries will last less than a couple of weeks for active players (six days in my case). This compares to a battery life of a couple of months for the previous generation of Nintendo's wireless controller -- the Nintendo Wavebird controller for the GameCube.

Many games require the additional purchase of a controller attachment for multi-player mode -- the Wii Nunchuk Controller or Wii Classic Controller, both of which plug into the base of the Wii Remote. In multi-player mode, the Wii Nunchuk is used for two-handed Wii games, e.g., Red Steel or the boxing game in Wii Sports.

The Wii Classic Controller attachment is currently used to play games on the Wii Virtual Console. Held sideways, the Wii Remote can serve as a game controller for all current Sega Genesis, TurboGrafx 16, and Nintendo (NES) Wii Virtual Console games. A Wii Classic Controller or Nintendo GameCube controller is required to play Super Nintendo (SNES) or Nintendo 64 virtual console games.

You may want to purchase a Wii Classic Controller or Nintendo GameCube controller (this plugs directly into Wii Console itself) to play Virtual Console titles anyway. The Wii Remote is diminutive, and a Wii Classic Controller or GameCube controller both offer better handgrip and button placement. Of note, a Wii Classic controller can currently only be used for Wii Virtual Console games, while a GameCube controller can be used for Wii Virtual Console games and all Nintendo GameCube games.

Each "Wiimote" has a nice touch of interactivity, holding up to 10 Mii avatars per remote. You can take your Mii character along with you to play games like Wii Sports on other Wii consoles by taking your Wii Remote along with you.

The one improvement I would make to the Wii Remote Controller would be to add finger nubs. The Wiimote can get a little slippery during gameplay because of sweat. Third-party manufacturers offer latex rubber / silicone controller gloves that fit over the Wii Remote to improve hand grip. I find these gloves are more hassle than they are worth because they are time-consuming, both to put on and to peel back when changing the Wiimote's batteries.

Wii Music

Buy new Price: $49.99
27 Used&New available from $42.00

Customer Reviews

I picked up Wii Music on Wednesday and have been having a blast every night this week.
One thing that I realized is that besides the 3 minigames, it isn't really a game. If you go into it thinking it's a game, you may be disappointed. There's no score, no levels, no character development, no plot. When you finish a song there's on one telling you "Great Job!" if you win or "Fail!" if you lose... In fact you score yourself based on how well you think you did. "Gamers" expect all of these things, and when they don't find them they say that it sucks.

There's the obvious comparison to Wii Sports and Wii Play. As a game, Wii Sports blows it out of the water, but you really can't compare the two at all because they're completely different. Personally I don't think that Wii Music is much of a game at all, it's more of a Musical Toy, and a darn good one at that. It's just as much fun as Wii Sports, and has more replay value than the boring games in Wii Play! Who cares that the game doesn't tell you how good or bad you did. Smart people can figure it out for themselves!

Grab some beer and some friends, and make a fool out of yourselves! That's what Wii Music is all about, it's just plain fun!

Wii Grand Slam Sports Pack

Buy new Price: $19.99
50 used & newfrom $17.66
For the price, this sports pack cannot be beat. It is a useful and almost necessary add-on for any Wii system.

The baseball bat, tennis racket, and golf club share the same handle. The Wii controller fits into the handle. The handle screws onto each attachment. The protective clear cover on the controller must be removed first.

The baseball bat makes hitting much more fun. It's made of a lightweight plastic so it isn't even close to the weight of a real bat. (Which is a good thing for your TV). I still found myself assuming a batter's stance and following through on my swing. Oh, the controller must be removed during pitching. Not a big deal since it just slides out of the handle.

The tennis racket is sorely needed. It makes the tennis game much more fun. Stepping into forehand and backhand shots feels realistic. The racket was so much fun that I now play 5-6 games each time I fire up the Wii.

The golf club is nice but very short. I wish it had a little more length to it. Controller is about 2ft fully extended. Perhaps attaching a weight to the club head might help.

Haven't tried the steering wheel. Can say that the Wii controller sits in the middle of the steering wheel.

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 09: All-Play

33 newfrom $45.99

About this Game
Tiger Woods PGA Tour 09 All Play for the Wii is an excellent golf simulation. I have read the complaints about the putting. Listen, putting was far too easy on ealier iterations. Putting on Tiger 09 can be mastered, but guess what? Doing so takes effort and practice and touch and hard work--just as putting in real life does. The satisfaction from becoming skilled and consistent is just what a golf game should demand. In like manner, mastering the full or partial swing takes time and effort. Good, golf is a difficult and demanding sport,a humbling experience. Tiger 09 for the Wii is terrific, a golfer's delight, if not a gamer's delight. Buy it, master it, and experience the satisfaction for learning how to do something difficult very, very well.

Wii Fit by Nintendo

Wii Fit is a great way to keep your children active while having fun at the same time. As more and more young people turn to video games to fill up their free time, it's important to find good alternatives like Wii Fit to make sure they don't become couch potatoes. I was reading an ebook called Get Your Kids off Video Games the other day, and found this excerpt:

"Are video games bad?

For the most part, no. Video games are fun and can actually be very challenging and stimulating. The trick is finding the right ones, and keeping game time balanced with non-entertainment activities. Many games are being introduced which attempt to break the mould of the stereo-typical video game genre.

One such game is Wii Fit for Nintendo Wii™. Wii Fit is all about making exercise fun and goal-driven. Players have to weigh in and have their body mass index (BMI) checked regularly for progress reports. There are dozens of games to choose from, and all focus on one or more areas of the body to exercise and/or stretch. Multi-player options allow players to compete for most push- ups or other workouts in a specified time. It’s been getting great reviews from parents who are relieved to have a productive game for their children to play."

Wii by Nintendo

Hi guys! How are you?
Do you want to bring your family closer together?... My advice is to buy a Nintendo Wii.. They cost almost 50% less then, the other game systems... And They do have better graphics then, I first anticipated... I own all 3 of the new systems (Wii, Xbox 360, Playstation 3) and to be honest I would rather play my Wii than the Xbox Or Playstaion. My entire family got into playing the Wii (They Normally Are Strongly Against Video Games).. The Wii is the most interactive gaming system on the market.. Nintendo May Have Just Revolutionized The Way Video Games Are Played!! The Motion Sensitive Control Allows Players To Get Up And Get Active!!.. A Little Exercise Is Far Better For Someone Than, The "Old" Way Of Video Gaming (Sitting There Rotating Your Thumbs All Day).. I Originally Purchased A Wii To Give My Little Brother.. But, As Soon As I Hooked It Up For Him, I Was "Blown Away" The Entire System Is The Best System I've Seen In A Long Time!!
If You Can Find A Nintendo Wii, I Strongly Suggest Going Out And Purchasing One..

I Hope This Helps Make Your Choice.. This Is More Than A Video Game System.. It's A Way To Help America Become Less Obese...Consider This Before You Turn Down Your Child's Request...
Hope you guys had a great weekend

Mario Kart Wii

Hi my friend this good day!

At a time when it is increasingly difficult to find video games suitable
for the whole family, this is one that is sure to please everybody, even
those who are not game-savvy and tend to shy away from video games. Easy
to handle wheel, uncomplicated controls, and a format that is familiar to
everyone so even the youngest children in the family can join in the fun.
